Day-wise itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Vientiane
Welcome to Vientiane! Upon arrival at Wattay International Airport, you’ll be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Check-in and freshen up before heading out for your first exploration of Laos' peaceful capital. Begin with a visit to the historic Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple in Vientiane, famous for its walls lined with thousands of tiny Buddha statues. Just a short walk away is Wat Ho Phra Keo, once the royal temple and former home of the revered Emerald Buddha. Continue to That Luang Stupa, Laos’ most sacred national monument and a symbol of Buddhist devotion. En route, stop at Patuxay Monument, often called Laos’ own Arc de Triomphe, for photo opportunities. Your last visit of the day is the COPE Visitor Centre, a powerful museum dedicated to helping UXO (unexploded ordnance) survivors with prosthetics, rehabilitation, and education then return back to your hotel & overnight stay at Vientiane hotel.
Day 2: Vientiane to Vang Vieng
After breakfast and check-out, depart on a scenic 4-hour drive north toward Vang Vieng, passing through lush countryside and mountain ranges. Along the way, visit a local market where ethnic hill tribes come to sell and trade their handmade goods and fresh produce. Arrive in Vang Vieng then check-in to the hotel and relax sometime. In the afternoon, explore the famous Tham Jang Cave, once used by villagers as a shelter during past invasions. Enjoy panoramic views of the Nam Song River and surrounding mountains. The rest of your day is free to explore Vang Vieng on foot or bicycle, or simply unwind by the riverside and then return back to your hotel & overnight stay at Vang Vieng hotel.
Day 3: Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang
After breakfast and check-out, continue your journey to Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage City. The drive takes you through dramatic mountain landscapes, traditional villages, and scenic highlands. Stop en route for lunch at a mountain viewpoint approximately 1,300 meters above sea level, surrounded by majestic peaks. Arrive in Luang Prabang in the late afternoon and check in to your hotel. In the evening, take part in an optional Baci Ceremony, a spiritual Lao ritual involving the tying of sacred strings around your wrists for blessings and good fortune. The ceremony includes traditional music, dance, and a welcoming local dinner then return back to your hotel & overnight stay at Luang Prabang hotel.
Day 4: Luang Prabang sightseeing
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and then begin your city exploration on bicycle. First stop is the Royal Palace Museum, home to treasures from the Kingdom of Laos. Next, visit Wat Xiengthong, Luang Prabang’s most iconic temple with its sweeping rooflines and intricate carvings. Continue to Wat Visoun and the spiritual site of Wat Aham, each offering insights into Laos' deep Buddhist traditions. After a midday break, continue to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre to explore Laos' ethnic diversity and cultural heritage. In the evening you can explore Luang Prabang Night Market, known for handmade textiles, ethnic crafts, and delicious street food then return back to your hotel & overnight stay at Luang Prabang hotel.
Day 5: Kuang Si Waterfalls & Pak Ou Caves Exploration
For early risers, an optional activity is to witness the Alms Giving Ceremony, a centuries-old tradition where hundreds of monks silently collect offerings at dawn. Return to the hotel for breakfast, and then visit the bustling Phousi Morning Market, where locals shop for fresh meat, spices, fruits, and unique Lao ingredients. Next, drive to the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfalls, where you can take a dip in turquoise pools or explore forest trails. Visit the Bear Rescue Center located at the site, home to rescued Asiatic black bears. Enjoy a local lunch, and then cruise along the Mekong River by private boat to visit the sacred Pak Ou Caves, which house thousands of Buddha statues and images. Return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon with the option to visit Ban Phanom Village, renowned for its traditional textile weaving then return back to your hotel & overnight stay at Luang Prabang hotel.
